AFL 9s Attacks the Block

The Royals District is winning the battle for the streets following a massively successful AFL 9s Summer League at Beatty Park, in which more than 250 players scrapped for street cred on Wednesday nights. AFL 9s, which is proudly supported by McDonalds, is now expanding to include an Autumn Super Series on Monday Nights at Coolbinia Reserve.

The Royals District in partnership with Chung Wah Association and the West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) has dipped its toe into the Chinese community with a series of AFL promotional activities at the 2015 Chinese New Year Festival at Northbridge Piazza. In 2012 the AFL introduced their Multicultural Ambassador Program, which sought to aid in introducing the AFL to communities of cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Players chosen to be ambassadors were described by then AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou as “leaders” and worked towards “attracting new people to the AFL”.
